I painted these cherries as part of a weekly Instagram art challenge called the #foodpaintchallenge where a reference photo of some kind of edible item is posted and anyone anywhere may participate by painting or drawing the subject, posting it, and tagging the challenge. I love dark, sweet cherries, so naturally I wanted to participate. This was a fun opportunity to use multiple thin glazes of pthalo blue, alizarin crimson and cadmium red to build the jewel-toned luminosity of the cherries. I hope you like them!
