So honored to have been juried in to this amazing show exploring the "nest" concept.  This show has such a variety of mediums and approaches to the theme.  I'm thrilled to be hanging in the company of an array of skillful and creative New Hampshire artists!

Studio 2020
Nov 7-Dec 12

I will be there!

Twiggs Gallery in Boscawen NH will hold their annual Sleighbell Studio Show again this year.  Adele Sanborn turns the gallery space into a beautiful holiday shop where you can buy affordably-priced fine art and handcrafts locally made and perfect for gift-giving.  Sleighbell Studio runs through December 12th.  I've got some hand-painted charger plates (see the other tab at the top of this blog) and some small 6 x 6 paintings on deep, chunky gallery-wrapped canvas, which means no framing: they can hang naked or sit on a shelf.  There are so many lovely things here.  Please stop by!

New Light Art Project at Twiggs Gallery!

Twiggs Gallery in Boscawen, NH is hosting New Light Art Project for their midsummer show.  Six of us will be showing our work at the gallery.  The show runs July 13 through August 31 and is wonderful exposure in the wider arts community for those of us who are Christian creatives working in the arts.  We appreciate the opportunity Twiggs has extended to us, and are trusting that this show will be a blessing to both NLAP and Twiggs. I will have 6 to 8 acrylic pieces (depending on space) hanging in the show, and every piece is available for sale.  On Saturday, July 13 from 1 to 3 there will be an opening reception with light refreshments to which the public is invited, and each of us will be speaking briefly about our work.

What a Great Night We Had... With More to Come!

The reception for New Light Art Project at the Boscawen Congregational Church was phenomenal.  We estimated that about 70-100 people came through the show in about two and half hours on Monday night, August 20th.  Eight Christian artists and poets displayed their work throughout the entire church facility, with more that 60 original pieces for patrons to browse.  Several paintings, print cards and art jewelry pieces have already sold, and the buyers are still showing up (even today!) to purchase paintings.  Some artists were approached about custom work.

Personally, I had a ball talking with many people who came to look at the art, and who had questions about some individual pieces.  Most paintings, however mundane or dramatic, have a "backstory," and people often want to know it, especially those who are purchasing a piece.  Once again, I am reminded how often I am surprised which painting elicits the most questions or generates the most interest.  You may hang your art in a show thinking you have a good idea what might catch the eye of patrons (and you might be right), but find instead that those pieces that you thought wouldn't get a second glance become a conversation piece.  You never really know for sure what people will be attracted to!

The next opportunity to see the show is this Saturday, August 25th, during Boscawen Old Home Day. The show will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. right through the Chicken Barbecue downstairs in the Town Hall.  I'll be there during that time. There are plenty of original pieces still available for sale, although you will see several labels marked "SOLD" already. If you've got something in mind for your home, for a gift, or if you've been to the show already and have had your eye on something, you may want to close on a piece sooner rather than later.  The show will remain open through August 31st.
