Harvest Harmony

Harvest Harmony

8 in. x 8 in., acrylic on cradled board

$250 unframed (no frame necessary)

I adore pumpkins.  Any size, any shape or color.  When I was a kid I was an idealist and a purist; pumpkins had to be big and orange and perfectly shaped.  If only I knew what a boring composition they would have made!  I suspect Linus Van Pelt might have extolled the virtues of the oddities and underdogs of the pumpkin patch to me as he waited for The Great Pumpkin to make his appearance. As I grew up I began to discover and love all the nubbly, warty, thickly ribbed, flat, tall, dusky, and brightly multicolored varieties of pumpkins.  This painting began as a tutoring piece for a painting student I'm coaching.  It was one of the most enjoyable paintings I've done as of late, with the varied surfaces, colors and lighting.  It reminds me of music, cooperation, and abundance.
